Japan sumo chief apologizes after female medics asked to leave ring


The sumo world has long maintained that the ring is a sacred place and that women can not enter, in a tradition often criticized as discrimination. Ryozo Tatami, 67, mayor of the city, suddenly collapsed shortly after 2 p.m. Tatami was hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries, according to city officials.
