Galaxy S11’s "Hubble" camera will have "Space Zoom"

08 November 2019

Dutch-language website Let's Go Digital added to the Galaxy S11's Hubble camera rumor by reporting on a trademark application it uncovered. "Samsung has been mass-producing such a camera sensor since early this year, and multiple reports in the last couple of months have said that the sensor will first be used in the Galaxy S11".

The codename "Hubble" for the camera on the Galaxy S11 was leaked by GalaxyClub which assured that their source was reliable; however, the information isn't confirmed and one should take it with a grain of salt. The unit has been dubbed Hubble and it draws an obvious connection to the space telescope that allows seeing to the edge of the universe. The Galaxy S11 is already expected to come with a periscope arrangement of mirrors and lenses which will allow for an increase in optical zoom.

The device is also rumored to sport the 108 MP ISOCELL sensor which was developed by Samsung itself. Samsung trademarked something called "Space Zoom", and we're guessing this is a camera-related trademark for the Galaxy S11. "Space Zoom" is nearly certainly a name for the hybrid camera zoom functionality that will be included with the Samsung Galaxy S11.

Samsung saw its share in China's smartphone market fall back below 1 percent in the second quarter, retreating from 4.9 percent in 2016 and 2.1 percent in 2017, according to data from market researcher Strategy Analytics.
