The player Manchester United should sell if they complete record £80m transfer

18 July 2019

Brendan Rodgers revealed Leicester City have rejected two bids for Harry Maguire, who is thought to be a target for Manchester United.

But it has been claimed Brendan Rodgers does not want to sign one more centre-back this summer, even if Maguire decides to pack his bags at Leicester.

Leicester have been linked with Brighton captain Lewis Dunk should Maguire move on, with the Foxes keen to resolve the future of their star defender by the end of the month. Lindelof has, by far, been United's best defender over the past year or so, and should be the one to partner Maguire at the heart of the Manchester United defence in the new season.

"Harry's a top-quality player and no-one has come near the valuation to tempt the club to sell", Rodgers said, speaking after Leicester's 1-0 friendly win over Scunthorpe United.

And Spector is hopeful young star Marcus Rashford can take the opportunity to step up and prove a top-class heir to the Belgium worldwide. Of course, he has attracted interest with two bids coming in but they nowhere near meet the valuation of the club.

"I really have to add, because I have been in this situation a number of times where it can be very, very hard for players".

"It seems like English players command a premium and if they could get him for the right price, I think it would be a good buy".

The defender, 26, could have played his final match in a Foxes shirt amid ongoing interest from Manchester United and City.

United reportedly met officials from Sporting to make progress on the deal this week and now reports by Italian website Alfredo Pedulla say the Portuguese club have found his replacement.
