Thousands of people gathered Wednesday in Colorado to honor the life of Kendrick Castillo - the courageous high school student who was killed while attempting to stop last week's STEM school shooting.
District Attorney George Brauchler addresses the media after STEM School Highlands Ranch shooting suspect's 18 year old Devon Erickson and 16-year-old Alec McKinney facing criminal charges made court appearance's at the Douglas County Courthouse May 15, 2019, in Castle Rock, Colo.
Brauchler said 16-year-old Alec McKinney, who is listed in court documents as Maya Elizabeth McKinney, would be charged as an adult.
Court documents in the cases against both suspects remain sealed, and a records custodian in a Douglas County Sheriff's Office last week told The Washington Post that authorities would not release 911 calls or information related to a home where one of the suspects lived. His face was visible, and he looked forward toward the judge while attorneys discussed the case. He said the FBI, ATF and other local law enforcement agencies have also been involved in the investigation.
The service is being held at Cherry Hills Community Church in Highlands Ranch just a few hours after the two shooting suspects appeared in court as Castillo's parents watched. His attorneys' requested that he be unshackled during the hearing was denied.More news: Asus Zenfone 6 Innovates With Motorised Flip Camera

Witnesses said Erickson allegedly entered a classroom yelling, "Nobody move".
An outside prosecutor has been asked to consider whether an armed security guard credited with capturing one of the two suspects in last week's Colorado school shooting should face any charges.

"When it actually happened, I had to make that decision that nobody should really ever have to make, which was run toward the gunman or run away from him. Adrenaline and tunnel vision are a insane thing", said Jones, who described himself as just a normal teenage kid.
McKinny was also arrested shortly after the gunfire erupted.
Senior Kendrick Castillo was just days from graduating when he was slain while trying to stop one of the gunmen during the May 7 attack at the STEM School Highlands Ranch, not far from the scene of the 1999 Columbine massacre.
Two news organizations citing anonymous sources reported that authorities are investigating whether the guard mistakenly fired at a responding sheriff's deputy and may have wounded a student.
