A Texas police officer fatally shot an unarmed woman moments after she is heard saying "I'm pregnant" in an altercation captured on video. The officer deployed his Taser on the woman, but, as he was trying to handcuff her, she apparently got hold of the device and used it on him. Turner, who is lying on the ground outside the apartments in Baytown, yells "I'm pregnant". Moments later, something flashes as she reaches her arm out toward the officer. In the first five months of 2019, at least 323 people have been shot and killed by police in the United States.
Police said the woman was wanted for outstanding warrants in the city, near Houston, and that the officer had stopped to arrest her at around 10.40pm.
"If somebody takes your Taser away from you and starts tasing you, there's a very good likelihood that this is going to escalate and get very bad for the officer from there", Dorris told reporters. Baytown Police detectives along with investigators from the Harris County District Attorney's Office are investigating the incident.

Dorris has said that in addition to this bystander video, there is likely also video from the officer's bodycam. The department is reviewing whether the shooting was in line with its policy on the use of deadly force, he said.
The officer from the Baytown Police Department was patrolling the area around The Brixton Apartments on Garth Road on the evening of May 13 when he came across a 45-year-old woman who he recognized as having outstanding warrants. Turner's niece told the station the woman had mental health issues and had had prior run-ins with Baytown police.
Meanwhile, a video of the shooting posted on Snapchat shows the woman screaming to the officer that she was being harassed and that she was also pregnant.
"[She] actually Tased the officer, which forced the officer to draw his duty weapon and fire multiple rounds at the suspect". "Why?" and then "I'm pregnant". Shortly after, the fatal shots rang out. Standing amid the modest brick and aluminum homes, one of Turner's neighbors said the incident frightened her.
"You're actually harassing me", she said, before the two fall to the ground. And then you wake up and realize, 'Oh, my God.
The woman's name has not been released, as her family has not yet been informed. "Another black person who has lost their life, for senseless violence".
Once again, a shocking police shooting caught on video is causing outrage. "We owe it to everyone involved, including the decedent, to do a professional investigation", he said.More news: Apple TV's "Channels" subscriptions and TV app overhaul are here
