TRACKING: Severe Weather possible on Sunday

Late in the afternoon, more widespread thunderstorms were expected to develop in west and northwest IL, with severe weather forecast in the Chicago area from 8 midnight Thursday, potentially affecting the Cubs' evening game against the Pirates. More than 140,000 customers remained without power in Texas, Mississippi, Louisiana and Arkansas late Saturday.

Overview: A very powerful storm system in Texas is making its move to the northeast tonight.


Rain is expected to start shortly before sunrise with storms continuing through the morning, said National Weather Service meteorologist Juan Hernandez.

The rain is expected to end in time for evening events at the Main Street Fort Worth Arts Festival and the Texas Rangers-Oakland A's game in Arlington. Clouds will be on the increase as temperatures will go from near 70 into the lower 60s by early Sunday morning. Right now best estimates put the storms moving from west to east across the region between 6 and 10 a.m.

BREEZY AND COOLER MONDAY: After being spoiled with the 70s this weekend, temperatures will likely cool down on Monday. Quiet weather will persist through Tuesday.
