Netflix's Wine Country Trailer: Friendship Is a Trip

14 April 2019

With Dratch playing Rebecca, a woman celebrating her 50th birthday, Poehler stars as Abby, who plans to ring in the big 5-0 with a getaway trip to Napa with their besties: workaholic Catherine (Ana Gasteyer), post-op Val (Paula Pell), homebody Jenny (Emily Spivey), and tired mom Naomi (Rudolph). Workaholic Catherine (Ana Gasteyer), post-op Val (Paula Pell), homebody Jenny (Emily Spivey), and tired mom Naomi (Maya Rudolph) jump at the chance for some time to reconnect, relax and imbibe.

"In honor of Rebecca's (Dratch) 50th birthday, Abby (Poehler) plans a scenic Napa getaway with their best, longtime friends". As the wine keeps flowing (and flowing), real-world uncertainties and questions begin to infiltrate the feel-good moments as the women reassess their friendships. The film was also directed by Poehler herself. With a script from SNL writer Emily Spivey and The Last Man on Earth writer Liz Cackowski, there should be plenty of smart comedy in this movie.

If you were a fan of Girls Trip (as I was) and Rough Night (which was OK, but formulaic), you may want to have a Netflix night and drink some wine to Wine Country, which will hit Netflix on May 10.
