Steve Kerr laughs off lipreading criticism of Draymond Green

14 March 2019

This comes just two days after a short clip went viral of what some people believe is Steve Kerr saying "I'm so f-king exhausted of Draymond's s-t" during Sunday's loss to the Phoenix Suns.

So on Monday, roughly 16 hours after internal conflicts contributed to blowing a 16-point lead at home, Kerr resorted to humor in hopes of alleviating some of the gravity of this pivotal moment of the season. "I think we've done a good job with that here..." We've got to build better habits. We all feel it. It is a hard thing that we're trying to accomplish and it gets more hard as you go just based on circumstances. "We've got to build some momentum".

Yet it requires an iron commitment to stay connected in the age of public video and widespread trolling. Anger festers and sometimes boils over. Kerr, having won five championships as a player, brings a great deal of perspective to situations like this. The irritations among them too often are on display. While it's not clear the exact words Kerr used, many speculated that the coach said he was exhausted of "Draymond's s-". He just had the year wrong.

Everybody on the team is responsible for this rough 6-4 stretch, but one player, in particular, is a big reason for the Warriors' struggles and will be crucial to lifting the team back to their winning ways.

And doing it knowing there are eyes and ears everywhere. Now, as the Warriors navigate their latest bout of adversity in their quest for a three-peat, Kerr finds himself reflecting on those '97-98 Bulls.

"It's 2019", Kerr said. He wrote 1984. I think the title should have been like 2012 or so. You've got to figure out how to survive and thrive in the modern way of life. "Everything is filmed. I've decided I'm now going to get a giant laminated board with all my play calls and I'm going to turn into a National Football League coach from here on end".
