Kyle Busch held on for his first win of the year, claiming victory at the TicketGuardian 500.
Just like he almost did last week at Las Vegas.
Busch had one of the most dominant cars throughout the race on Sunday, and led a race-high 177 laps.More news: Police file dowry, sexual harassment charges against Indian cricketer Shami
"We were going to be right on the verge", Busch said. "You got to go race hard first and then you have to worry about fuel afterwards". He will go for the 200 milestone next weekend at Auto Club Speedway in California.
"It's not for me to worry about", Busch said of hitting 200 wins. "But for myself and the career that I've had, I've been fortunate to be with a lot of great people, a lot of great sponsors, those that stick around me like Joe Gibbs, M&M Skittles, Snickers, Interstate Batteries that has always been behind me is what it's all about for me".
Ryan Blaney is trying to continue Roger Penske's dominance of the NASCAR Cup Series from the pole Sunday at ISM Raceway near Phoenix. But overall that's a long ways to go." says Busch, " You got to win a lot of races, a lot of years, to be able to tally up that many.More news: Unvaccinated Kids Are Now Banned From Schools In Italy
Even after victory outside Phoenix, Busch was still ruing what might have been. Let's set it at a hundred and see if we can't get there.
That allowed Martin Truex Jr. to climb all the way up to second place. But both managed to get to the finish without coming seriously close to running dry, though Blaney had to make an effort to save fuel in order to do so. "Ugh", Busch said following the race. He knew what situation I was in. "Man, I wish we could have swept last week, too".
Still, it was a momentum building result for Blaney, who had watched Team Penske teammates Joey Logano and Brad Keselowski reach victory lane the past two weeks.More news: Retail Inflation Rises to Four-month High in February
