Cardi B the first woman to win best rap album Grammy

11 February 2019

The Bronx-born rapper made history at the 2019 Grammy Awards on Sunday night by picking up the trophy for Best Rap Album, becoming the first solo female rapper to do so in the category's 20-plus year history. She also becomes the first solo woman to ever win the Grammy for Best Rap Album since the award's inception in 1995; Lauryn Hill won in 1997 with The Fugees' The Score. Cardi did exactly that with her epic performance, which included hit songs from her debut studio album Invasion of Privacy. Following an opening from a pianist, Cardi emerged in a sparkly black jumpsuit while strutting her stuff like a showgirl. Kacey Musgraves would approve!
