The CLA is fitted with a decoupled multi-link rear suspension system, and adaptive damping is optional. Mercedes-Benz claims that the CLA continues to have the same drag coefficient of 0.23 as before. "Coupled with new operating systems, it sets new benchmarks for the entire class", she added.
There is far more to this sleek new four-door than just looks - it packs a whole entourage of smart technology, which would explain why its maker chose to reveal it at the CES technology showcase in Las Vegas.

Mercedes didn't say how much the CLA-Class would cost when it goes on sale near the end of this year, but it's likely to be more than current CLA's base price of roughly $34,000. The rear of the auto features narrow tail-lights created to make the vehicle appear even wider. Engine outputs are 225 hp and 350 Nm of torque, transmitted to the wheels via a 7G-DCT dual-clutch transmission. Mercedes-Benz will offer a range of diesel and petrol engines with manual and dual-clutch automatic transmissions.
The biggest change is inside though. 2019 marks the 25th year of Mercedes-Benz in India and it plans to launch a total of 10 new products during the year to celebrate the milestone. The centerpiece for the cabin, and indeed the vehicle as a whole, is the Mercedes-Benz User Experience (MBUX) infotainment system that was unveiled first in the Mercedes A-Class.

Inside, the new CLA-Class is a dead-ringer for the A-Class on which it's based. The driver has four control options; touchscreen, steering wheel control, transmission tunnel touch pad and voice recognition.
On the outlook for the new year, Schwenk said, "2019 is going to be an important year for Mercedes-Benz India, as we reach the milestone of "25 years of Mercedes-Benz in India". The MBUX system connects to the internet via a built-in cellular connection (data sold separately) to offer search-related answers to questions like "Hey Mercedes: Who won the college football national championship last night?" or "Hey Mercedes: Are there any Indian restaurants near me?"
Paring the MBUX with another Mercedes premiere at CES, the Benz-branded Garmin vivoactive 3 Global Positioning System smartwatch will make for a driving experience like no other, promises the carmaker.
