Rumor: Google Working On Larger Pixel 3 Lite Smartphone

When Google launched the Pixel 3 in October, it was generally well received. You can read about some of those issues here, but at long last, Google is releasing substantive fixes for the Pixel 3 and 3 XL.

The update is rolling out today, and if your phone hasn't already gotten a notification saying there's a new software update, users should be able to download and install the patch by going into the phone's setting menu, scrolling down to the System, hitting Advanced, and tapping on the option for System Update. With this update, those problems should be resolved, although it's unclear how much Google can do with 4GB of available RAM in this day and age. Besides this, the camera app on Pixel 3 and 3 XL gets improved autofocus and "shutter performance".

As a reminder, the Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL both feature a fast Qualcomm 845 processor, wireless charging, dual front-firing stereo speakers and Active Edges which allow users to interact without touching the screen. First, Google has adjusted the volume behaviour when connecting to a Bluetooth device, which applies to all Pixel phones. When you think about it, there's really no reason getting connected to your phone network should require a little piece of plastic: why can't you just sign in with your credentials like every other digital service?

As for Pixel 3-specific media updates, Google says users can look forward to "improved contouring on HDR" when using the Pixel 3's media apps, as well as better detection for when you plug in an audio device via the USB-C port.
