Vijay's 'Sarkar' joins Rs 100 crore club in just two days

In the state, too, Sarkar broke records by reaching the spot that was previously dominated by SS Rajamouli's Baahubali - The Conclusion.

Tamil Nadu Information and Publicity Minister Kadambur Raju has demanded cuts in the Tamil movie Sarkar, alleging that some scenes in the film show AIADMK government led by late J Jayalalithaa in poor light. It has not only conquered Baahubali 2, but has also created several new records in India and overseas as well. While some are considering the film as one of Vijay's best works, there are a few who think otherwise.

The movie which has successfully minted 100 crores within two days of opening is getting a mixed reaction from the public. The film had 2018's biggest opening. As a first, the makers of Sarkar gave a treat to the U.S. fans of Vijay. Ticket New tweeted that Sarkar is the first movie to simultaneously release in 5 continents, 80 countries and more than 1200 worldwide screens across the globe. The film revolves around one man's mission to fight for his voting rights after someone casts his vote illegally and he challenges the system in the process.

Trade analyst Taran Adarsh took to Twitter and wrote, "The hugely awaited #Tamil biggie #Sarkar, which opened today, has got fantastic showcasing outside Tamil Nadu as well..." Reports suggest that Sarkar went on to fetch approximately 2.37 Crores on it opening day from Chennai region alone. Writer and assistant director Varun Rajendran had claimed that the Sarkar story was based on his script titled Sengol.

Sarkar, released in over 3000 screens around the world, has earned a gross collection of approximately $145,000 just from the premiere shows in the United States and the number, after the first day is expected to only go up.

Raju asked the makers to remove the controversial scenes or face action.
