During Tuesday's Made by Google event, Xiaomi announced it will soon begin selling the Mi Box S in the US.

The Xiaomi Mi Box S runs on Android TV 8.1 OS with support for Google Assistant and Chromecast.

Android TV is taking another stab at the living room. The result of which is there are very little differences inside and out between the original Mi Box and the new Mi Box S. The main box looks nearly identical to the original Mi Box made up of a small, black and generally nondescript piece of hardware with only the "Mi" branding visible on the front.

The Mi Box S delivers 4K and HDR video (HDR10, not Dolby Vision) from compatible services. It's a Chromecast-enabled device, too, so direct streaming from your phone or PC is also a feature. Allowing users to make use of the digital assistant to control various aspects of the viewing experience, as well other compatible smart devices around the home, in addition to receiving feedback to questions asked.

An unknown quad-core processor powers the Xiaomi Mi Box S with Cortex-A53 CPU and Mali 450 GPU, coupled with 2 GB of RAM and 8 GB of internal storage. The Mi Box S can also be used as a gaming console, by downloading games from Google Play Store. The Mi Box S is priced at $59.99 (Rs 4,450) and will be available for pre-order on wallmart. Ports around back include HDMI 2.0a, audio out, USB 2.0, and one power port. Power for the remote is provided by 2x AAA batteries (included in the box.) The box also includes an HDMI cable (which is unheard of, and cool of Xiaomi to provide), as well as a power adapter, the remote, and the Mi Box S itself. Walmart's shipping estimate has already slipped from October 16 to November 3. However, Pixel devices weren't the only thing to launch today, as Xiaomi just launched the brand new Xiaomi Mi Box S.
