Annan's body was flown to Accra on Monday, accompanied by his family, including Nane.
The New Patriotic Party (NPP) Member of Parliament for Mpohor, Alex Kofi Agyekum, said Mr Annan's intervention helped to avert chaos in the 2016 general elections in Ghana after the Electoral Commission (EC) delayed in releasing the presidential results.

In a statement signed by Information Minister Designate Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, government applauded the efforts of the citizenry and members of the worldwide community throughout the three-day funeral rites held in honor of the global icon.

Members of the traditional council, Chiefs and Queen mothers, the Akwamuhene and his delegation including that of Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II will also past Mr Annan's remains.
Mr Annan's maternal grandfather is from Akwamu while the father is from the Ashanti Region. The world has lost a standard-bearer of global cooperation.
A former Chief of Staff under President J.A. Kufuor, Mr Kojo Mpiani, espoused Mr Annan as a humble and peaceful personality who would be missed by all.
Now retired and back living in Ghana, he said Annan taught him "the benefit of humility, the benefit of honesty, the benefit of decisiveness, and diplomacy from the grassroots".

Mr Annan was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 2001, as the world was reeling from the September 11 terror attacks in the United States, jointly with the UN "for their work for a better organised and more peaceful world".
After serving out his term, he formed the Kofi Annan Foundation in 2007 to work on global development, peace and humanitarianism.
Other leaders in Accra for the funeral include Senate Speaker Ken Lusaka representing President Uhuru Kenyatta and Ford-K Party Leader Moses Wetangula.
