Earlier this year, Asus partnered Flipkart to exclusively sell the Zenfone Max Pro M1 on the e-commerce platform. It is worth noting that there is a flat Rs 3000 discount upon using an ICICI Credit/Debit card, bringing the price down to Rs 26999 for the base model.

The 6GB RAM variant comes with 64GB / 128GB of internal storage and the 8GB RAM variant packs 128GB of onboard storage.

OnePlus went unchallenged in India's mid-range segment for the last two years, but we finally have an alternative in the ZenFone 5Z.

Asus is touting the cameras on the Zenfone 5Z a lot. This translates into a 19:9 aspect ratio, just like the OnePlus 6 which also has a 19:9 aspect ratio. The one with 6GB RAM with 64GB storage is priced at Rs 29,999, whereas the 8GB RAM with 128GB storage is priced at Rs 32,999. The front houses an Apple iPhone X-like notch above the display which has become a new, common trend among smartphone makers these days. There's also a fingerprint sensor placed on the back side, which according to Asus, can unlock the device in 0.3 seconds. Today, the Asus has officially launched Zenfone 5Z in India.

It sports an 8 MP front camera for selfies. The phone is expected to be launched with 6/8GB RAM and 64/128/256GB storage options. The Zenfone 5Z comes with Qualcomm's flagship Snapdragon 845 chip under the hood coupled with the Adreno 630 GPU and runs on Android 8.0 Oreo with Asus' ZenUI 5.0 on top. The phone is dual-SIM enabled with 4G VoLTE support.

The rest of the features include an 8-megapixel selfie camera, and a 3,300mAh battery with fast charging. Asus seems poised to take on OnePlus and we therefore expect them to undercut OnePlus prices by a significant margin, making it one of the cheapest Snapdragon 845 phones around. The smartphone has a dual rear camera setup with a 12MP primary sensor, along with an f/1.8 aperture lens, and an 8MP secondary sensor with an f/2.2 aperture. Flipkart's Mobile Protection plan will be available for Zenfone 5Z at Rs 499 and it's worth of Rs 2,299. The handset retains a 3.5mm audio jack and features a USB Type-C port.
