Creators will be able to put links in the description that can drive traffic to their website or other forms of social media. Last week, the company launched IGTV, a new long-form video app, which will also be viewable inside the main Instagram app.
Fast-forward six years later, and the social media platform is probably laughing itself silly at the doubters while on the way to bank.
Earlier the users were restricted to update a video long upto 1 min.
Here's the deal, when you log in to IGTV, it will automatically begin playing vertical videos from people you follow, along with personalized recommendations from elsewhere in Instagram. Now, there will be two ways to upload video- upload videos option or a + button.
The IGTV app has been recently rolled out of Instagram, and the creators have already started creating contents for this platform.More news: Microsoft Edge tests built-in Adblock Plus on iOS and Android
After downloading the app, when you open it up it will connect to your Instagram account.
Video length is from 15 seconds up to one hour. The format of the videos that could be uploaded is MP4.
As for the original creators of Instagram, don't worry, they were cool about the whole 2012 buy-out. The photo-sharing app has an estimated value of more than $100 billion, according to Bloomberg. Meanwhile, 181.7 million Americans will watch video on their smartphones at least once per month, up 6% from a year ago.
Engadget has the details on Instagram's new offering. It's the new standalone app that aims to counter YouTube as far as mobile video is concerned. However, Instagram needs to come up with some monetization plan if it wants to compete with YouTube.
IGTV's programming format will consist exclusively of vertical video created to fill the entire screen of smartphones-the devices that are emerging as the main way younger people watch video.More news: Syrian Refugees Begin Massing on Israel's Border
Now we will discuss how you can upload videos to IGTV from the web interface. All you have to do is tap the + button and find the one you'd like to send. Now, tap on the screen, and the video will get full screen with the sound enabled.
Video-streaming giant, Netflix, used IGTV, earning 676,000 views and nearly 5,000 comments featuring a 60-minute video of actor Cole Sprouse relishing a hamburger. It is visible next to the direct messages icon on the top right corner of the home screen.
