Man Utd transfer bombshell: Anthony Martial demands exit as agent confirms plans

14 June 2018

Anthony Martial has decided he wants to leave Manchester United, according to his agent.

The forward, however, has found a starting spot hard to come by with Jose Mourinho on the bench, with 12 of his 30 league appearances in 2017-18 coming off the bench.

Martial's agent Philippe Lamboley confirmed to French outlet RMC that his client had chose to leave United after a hard couple of seasons working with manager Jose Mourinho, as he has become a regular bench warmer and struggled to make his mark when chances came his way.

The 22-year-old's agent, Philippe Lamboley, has revealed that Martial's situation has deteriorated to the point that he feels that there's no way back now.

"United wants to extend Anthony and does not want him to leave but we do not find agreement for several months".

"There are many reasons, for now it is too early to discuss it. Anthony will talk soon to go through that".

"I think when United, the most powerful club in the world, is not in agreement in eight months of negotiations, it's that they don't really want to make him an important player in the team".

"The decision is related to that".

It would appear, however, that a transfer request has yet to be handed in to the club as Lamboley added: "It is very important to remember that he is under contract, that Manchester United will have the last word and we will respect the decision of the club".

That has moved a step closer, after Martial's agent made clear he wants to quit United.

"However, we do not share the same vision for Anthony's future".

"I think he has done his best over the last three years".

"Anthony is disappointed because he has shown for three seasons he had for the club and its supporters. Without the great support from the fans, he would have already asked to leave the club".

Later the same month, Mourinho pointedly avoided answering a direct question about Martial's and Marcus Rashford's playing time, per Mike Whalley of the Telegraph.

"Where will he play?"
