HP steps up the design on its premium Envy lineup

15 May 2018

HP's new Envy all-in-one possesses it in spades, and not just because of its B&O-meets-2001 design, which perches a sweeping 34in 2K curved monitor atop a sleek black box of innards (that includes a built-in wireless charging pad for your phone, no less).

The Envy 13 might not be part of HP's flagship Spectre line, but it basically should be. The devices are created to straddle work and play environments, which means they are functional but stylish.

To give more from the expanded Elite family, HP has launched the EliteDisplay S14 that adds dual-screen productivity to new models. Besides, the EliteBook x360 1030 G3 has a full-HD (1080p) webcam and comes with 18 hours of battery life on a single charge.

As for everything else, the EliteBook 1050 G1 is coming in May starting at $1,899, the Elite x2 1013 G3 is coming in June starting at $1,499, and the EliteBook x360 1030 G3 is coming in June starting at $1,449.

"HP's undisputed design and engineering leadership is delivering the ultimate combination of style, performance, and versatility", said Ron Coughlin, president of the Personal Systems group at HP, in a statement.

There are two models of the HP ENVY X360 to choose from, with the 13 inch model including the AMD Ryzen Processor with Radeon Vega Graphics22 and 11 hours of battery life. The line has new HP Command Center tech allowing users to optimize system performance, fan noise, and temperature with CoolSense tech. The Envy models include the HP Envy 13 laptop, with 8th Generation Intel quad-core processors, 14 hours of battery life, and a fingerprint reader. The device comes with Amazon Alexa on board and incorporates a dark ash woodgrain finish on the base and pale gold accents along the back of the device.

This device is 34-inch curved AiO purpose-built for collaboration. However, it's headline feature is a claimed up to 14 hours of battery life.

Both the Envy 17 laptop and Envy x360 15 also feature Intel Optane memory features for faster loading times. One of them is a curved 34-inch all-in-one, which HP pitches as the world's widest AIO. Available in May, the Envy 13 starts at $1,000 and features an Intel Core i7-8550U CPU, 8GB of RAM and a 256GB SSD. HP will sell the Elite x2 1013 G3 in the U.S. in June with a starting price of $1,499 (approximately Rs. 1,01,230). The HP Envy Desktop is a premium desktop with various 8th gen Intel Core multi-core processors, optional GTX 1080 graphics, and optional Optane memory. The EliteOne 1000 AIO G2, Envy x360 13, Envy x360 15, and Envy 17 Laptop are set to hit shelves sometime in June, starting at £999, £799, £849, and £1,099, respectively. HP will sell the EliteBook 1050 G1 in the United States later this month with a starting price of $1,899 (approximately Rs. 1,28,300). This device extends powerful storage and memory options with a 4K display. HP EliteBook S14 is expected to wear the tag of $219. Like the 1013, it includes a rechargeable pen, quad-core 15W U-series processors, a Sure View option, a Category 9 LTE option, and a 13-inch screen, but the form factor is different. The processor equipped with Intel will cost $869.99 and the AMD version $749.99.

HP ENVY 17 Laptop is expected to be available in May at HP.com for a starting price of $1,049.99. The 34-inch curved version of the device is expected to be available later this year.
