Guillermo del Toro Horror Anthology Lands at Netflix

15 May 2018

Described as a collection of personally curated stories from the Best Achievement in Directing victor, the show will be "equally sophisticated and horrific".

The Shape of Water writer-director del Toro created the series and will write and direct certain episodes. Netflix has announced that they are moving forward with Guillermo del Toro Presents 10 After Midnight. I suspect this will be pitched at a slightly older audience, though. Del Toro, alongside J. Miles Dale (The Shape of Water) and Gary Ungar (The Strain) of Exile Entertainment, will executive produce.

Guillermo del Toro Presents 10 After Midnight is a Netflix production. By the way, this isn't Del Toro's first foray into TV. Meanwhile, Bachelor creator Mike Fleiss' new dating competition series The Proposal will debut Monday, June 18 at 10 pm.

The animated comedy Animals will return for Season 3 on Friday, Aug. 3 at 11:30 pm on HBO.

Guillermo del Toro earned four Academy Awards for his riveting romantic fantasy, The Shape of Water.

Other than the "coming soon" promise, Netflix hasn't set a premiere date for the show, but summer is the best time to release a horror-thriller in theaters, so we are hoping Netflix follows suit. The new series will feature handpicked horror stories from Del Toro.

Del Toro was long rumored to be involved with the upcoming Amazon seriesCarnival Row, possibly as a co-writer, executive producer, and/or director, but he ended up stepping away from the project due to scheduling conflicts.

It's worth noting that del Toro has a home in Toronto and frequently works on films there.
