Mercedes-AMG GT S Roadster

That's right, there are now a dozen AMG GT sports cars, and like the two other GT Roadster models, the GT S Roadster boasts a 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 engine.

Mercedes-AMG is taking pre-orders for the GT S Roadster now, although it won't be launched in the United Kingdom until July. In the standard model, this produces 469 hp and 465 lb-ft of torque, while the C version ups the ante to 550 hp and 502 lb-ft. It's the third variant to join Affalterbach's drop-top sports vehicle lineup, and it sits between the current GT and GT C in terms of performance and price.

Mercedes say the AMG GT S Roadster can already be ordered from dealers, although there's no official price yet.

This latest member sits between the standard AMG GT Roadster and the AMG GT C Roadster, as it bridges the gap with upgrades that make it "dynamic by numerous modifications to the engine, suspension, brakes, design and interior" according to the company announcement. This feature adjusts the damping at each wheel to the current road situation.

Mercedes-AMG has introduced the GT S Roadster, a performance-focused variant that slots between the basic GT Roadster and the flagship GT C. In addition, five drive modes are available, including Comfort, Sport, Sport Plus, Race, and Individual.

Mercedes-AMG will also offer an array of new features on the GT S Roadster such as the high performance composite braking system, sport suspension with aluminium wishbone axles, rear locking differential and a 47:53 % front-to-rear weight distribution. They house composite brake discs that measure 390mm at the front and 360mm at the back. This means sports seats wrapped in Artico faux leather and Dinamica microfibre with the optional extra being nappa leather. Pricing will be announced closer to launch.
