Maserati has unveiled the 2019 Levante Trofeo, the first Levante built around a V8 engine. Inside, we're promised the leather hides, which you can spec in black, red or tan, "is like no other leather used in the automotive industry for its natural, soft feel and for the unique character it develops throughout the years." Hmm.
It is capable of accelerating from 0-60 miles per hour in just 3.7 seconds (0-100 km/h in 3.9 seconds), reaching a top speed of 187 miles per hour (300 km/h) and 34.5 metres (113 feet) of braking distance before coming to a complete stop.
Production of the Maserati Levante Trofeo is set to commence at the Mirafiori plant in Turin at some point during the next few months.More news: Lionel Messi Can't Stand To Watch As Spain Batter Argentina 6-1
The SUV is one of the most powerful Maserati models ever, powered by a 3.8-liter twin-turbo V8 with 590 horsepower and 538 pound-feet of torque to all four wheels.
"The engineers and designers in Modena know that the driveline parameters (of the Maserati Levante) were more than able to cope with additional power", Tim Kuniskis, CEO of Maserati said. The Levante still retains its 50:50 weight balance and can send up to 100 percent of the engine's power to the rear wheels.
A new "Corsa" driving mode with Launch Control functionality is added to the existing Normal, I.C.E., Sport and Off Road modes. "So, they were up to the challenge of making the finest luxury SUV also the fastest".More news: Australia coach Darren Lehmann quits in wake of ball-tampering scandal
To go along with the beast of an engine, the Levante Trofeo gets a restyled front and rear bumpers and 22-inch forged aluminum "Orione" wheels.
A further Corsa mode offers the maximum throttle response, lowers the suspension, optimises the Integrated Vehicle Control (IVT) settings, reduces gear-shift times and opens exhaust valves for a more obvious and sporty V8 report.
For the premiere in New York, Maserati introduced a limited-run "Launch Edition" for the U.S. and Canada only. The manufacturer's Integrated Vehicle Control is meant to prevent driver mistakes rather than correcting them after they happen, probably because a traditional stability control system wouldn't be quite exclusive enough for a auto of this stature. Black leather with blue or yellow stitching is exclusive to the launch edition and all feature the new matte carbon fibre wave interior trim. But that didn't stop him quickly reeling off some impressive numbers once the Levante Trofeo had taken center stage at New York's Javits Center.More news: Darren Lehmann resigns as Australian cricket team coach
