Jaylen Brown able to leave court on his own after hard fall

10 March 2018

Swingman Jaylen Brown had a great fall, and all of Boston's men could not put him together again. He came into the game averaging 14.1 points, 5.2 rebounds, 1.7 assists and 1.0 steals, all marked improvements over the numbers he posted in his rookie season, after the Celtics made him the third overall pick in the 2016 draft.

The Boston Celtics had a terrible sense of deja vu on Friday when young forward Jaylen Brown took a disgusting tumble after dunking. Players and coaches on both teams looked on with nervous expressions on their faces as personnel continued to check on Brown.

After a long delay, Brown was able to walk off the court, but for a while people feared the worst. Having watched Gordon Hayward get carted off the court in the season opener, the team was thankful Brown did not experience the same fate.

"He gets to his launch pad, he can get up there with the best of them", Irving said. Not only did Brown fall at a weird angle with no opportunity to brace himself, his neck and head were the first things to hit the ground.

Strength was the name of this game for the Celtics, who overcame a career-high 30 points by Nemanja Bjelica on 11-for- 16 shooting, including 6 for 9 from 3-point range.

"I was right there".

Brown didn't return and finished with 14 points and five rebounds as one of six Celtics to score in double figures in a balanced offensive attack against an overmatched Timberwolves defense.

Celtics teammates prayed nearby as Brown's body seized up and he appeared dazed virtually to the point of unconsciousness. It was tough to see.
