Netflix releases trailer for 'Altered Carbon'

12 January 2018

Based on the classic cyber-punk noir novel by Richard K. Morgan, it is set in a world transformed by technology where consciousness can be digitised, human bodies are interchangeable and death is no longer permanent.

The world (set 300 years into the future) is one in which people with enough money can download and pass their consciousness from body to body, which are known as "sleeves".

The new trailer gives a look at Kovacs' abilities in his new body, with his enhanced combat techniques proving useful in the face of all the people trying to take him out as he navigates an unfamiliar world of mystery.

The promo, released Thursday, offers an in-depth look at the dystopian future in which Kinnaman's Takeshi Kovacs is reanimated after a 250-year period on ice.

Renee Elise Goodman, from The Good Wife, and Dichen Lachman, from US Shameless, also feature alongside Mexican actress Martha Higareda. So far, we're loving the Blade Runner-esque visuals and we want to see more. The first trailer for Altered Carbon introduced Bancroft, who is alive, but has no memory of how he died.

This high-quality production on this show looks expensive, even for Netflix. "You shed it like a snake sheds it's skin".

Netflix's Altered Carbon comes from creator and executive producer Laeta Kalogridis.
