The police said that accused on the run are the attackers and the weapon is yet to be recovered. "Jogdand drove the three men in the auto". He claimed that the three men seemed unsafe, so he cited some mechanical issues to get them to take another vehicle. The police officials reached the spot and rushed him to a nearby hospital, where he was declared dead before admission. Now His body has been delivered to Shatabdi hospital for a post-mortem. Sawant was returning home on a bike with one of his relatives, when he was stabbed. The police is looking into two theories about what might have led to Sawant's murder: a dispute over a cable television business and a slum redevelopment project. Incidentally, one of his daughters was slated to get married on February 5. "We are waiting for the postmortem report". The police have filed a case under Indian Penal Code (IPC) section 302 and an investigation is underway. Sawant, a two-time corporator from Samta Nagar, is the brother of assistant police commissioner Subhash Sawant, who is attached to the anti-terrorism squad. CCTV footage of the building is being observed to identify the culprits.
