Mi A1 owners can now apply to join Xiaomi's Oreo beta

The company has taken to its official forum via GSMArena asking users of the device to register themselves for the beta testing program before December 11 at 11:59 PM Beijing time. However, it is the Android Oreo that it's users have been longing for and it seems that this wait is soon going to end. It is open to people from any part of the world. Furthermore, make sure you're active on the MIUI forums, as you will be notified via a PM if selected.

It remains to be known when the Mi A1 will receive the Android Oreo update but there are claims that the update might be rolled out before the end of this year. Android 8.0 aka Android Oreo updates slew of updates to the phone like two times faster boot speed when powering up, AutoFill, picture-in -picture mode, Android instant apps, notification dots, redesigned emoji set and more. Though it will still come with Mi camera app, Mi store, and Mi remote app. Mi A1 comes with a dual camera setup one 12 megapixels wide angle lens with f/2.2 aperture another 12-megapixel telephoto lens with f/2.6 aperture. The smartphone is available in India at Rs 14,999 both via offline and online channels. Unfortunately, we still haven't seen kernel sources released for the device so far which is hindering AOSP-based custom ROM development for the phone. Now, Xiaomi has announced on their forum that they need beta testers for the Oreo update.
