Announcing the news, Clara - best known for presenting the mid-morning show on Radio 1 - said: "I'm so happy and honoured to be presenting "Top Of The Pops" alongside Fearne".

After presenting Top of the Pops since 2004, it must be shocking and a little upsetting for many to see him leave, but undoubtedly, it's impossible to ignore his comments.

A British TV presenter Reggie Yates has resigned over his 'ill-considered remarks, ' igniting fierce debate online over how much public figures should be allowed to speak their mind and whether people are too quick to take offense.

In a short statement he admitted that his words "reinforced offensive stereotypes" but insisted the comment was "no reflection on how I truly feel".

Craig David, Bastille and Paloma Faith will appear in the New Year special. "Clara and Fearne will be a formidable duo!" The presenter and documentary maker said it was "great" to see grime artists who are no longer managed by "some random fat Jewish guy from north-west London".

Shortly after, he said he was "hugely apologetic" for what he said.

'It was not my intention to offend or reinforce stereotypes, but I'm aware that this could have been interpreted that way and for that I am also deeply sorry.
