Cantona calls on Mourinho to embrace attacking football

24 November 2017

"I love Pastore, he plays for Paris but he doesn't play in the team", Cantona said.

Mourinho defended his tactics in his pre-match press conference on Friday although United legend Cantona believes he should adopt a more attacking approach. "It's the philosophy of the club it's very strong, it's a creative game, passing, movement".

Mourinho endured a hard Premier League campaign a year ago, finishing 24 points behind Chelsea, but managed to guide his side to League Cup and Europa League glory.

"I think he (Pastore) is a great player".

"I prefer the way Guardiola plays, and I would prefer him as manager of Manchester United, it's more logical".

"He would become a very good player, who maximised every ounce of his ability to carve out an impressive career".

The move, furthermore, is still on cards as Griezmann, speaking in his new biography, "Behind a smile, the life of the Little Prince told by himself", has conceded that a move to Manchester United is still a possibility.

"In United that philosophy is very strong and now it's a bit hard to understand, but I think Mourinho will win things with them". But I prefer more creative teams like Barcelona'.

Now, Cantona has had his say on Mourinho's style and although he likes the boss, he isn't such a fan of his philosophy.

He said: 'More ambition than we showing at home I think is quite hard. But Pastore is very special.

The 51-year-old also revealed what led to his famous comment about seagulls following a trawler before he was banned from football for eight months and fined a total of £30,000 for his kung-fu kick on a Crystal Palace fan in 1995. "So I don't know what you want". So I just said what came through my mind.

Despite interest from some big name clubs in Europe, Pastore's agent is pushing for his client to join Inter Milan, who are now second in the Italian top flight. I like to open doors and create debates.
