In a report from The Evening Standard, the publication alleges the incident took place on the 13th of October and the prosecutor of the case, Kate Shilton, described the altercation in detail. They are both out, and [the driver] has described having seen Mrs. Goldsmith slapping her husband in the face. He then describes how Mr Goldsmith punches her hard in the face using a left hook'. "She was saying how George likes helicopters, she was saying about the top floor of the Science Museum where the helicopters are".

When Shepherd then challenged Goldsmith over his actions, he became aggressive towards the taxi driver, it was said.

At the police station, Goldsmith denied punching his wife, claiming he had pushed her hard with his left hand, but was apologetic for his actions, the court heard. Under the terms of his bail, he must not go to his Marylebone home or contact his wife.

Goldsmith was exposed in a tabloid newspaper story in 2009 in which he was shown apparently preparing cocaine at his villa in Ibiza and boasting of his connections with the royal family.

Julie-Ann is his fourth wife. The couple married in 2012. She said: "She was asking about what Jacob liked and he said he liked aeroplanes and she was asking if he'd seen a Spitfire and we said we liked going to the Science Museum and RAF museum".
