Four Years Later, Seth MacFarlane Explains His Wisecrack About Harvey Weinstein

In case you missed it, the actress spoke to Ronan Farrow for his The New Yorker exposé about being invited to the producer's hotel room where he asked for a naked massage, while casually dangling a role for her in a film.

On Wednesday, Seth MacFarlane explained the origins of a 2013 joke he made at Harvey Weinstein's expense during the announcement of Academy Award nominations.

MacFarlane then read aloud the names of the five Best Supporting Actress Nominees, which included Sally Field,Anne Hathaway,Jacki Weaver, Helen Hunt and Amy Adams, all of whom with the exception of Field have worked with the movie mogul on previous projects. In Ted and Ted 2, Barth played Ted's love interested Tami-Lynn. MacFarlane voiced the bear Ted. "She has since courageously come forward to speak out".

"Make no mistake, this came from a place of loathing and anger", MacFarlane continued.

The "Family Guy" creator applauded Barth and the other women who spoke out about their alleged experiences with Weinstein.

Recently, stories from The New York Times and The New Yorker have shined a light on many accounts of sexual misconduct by the Miramax and Weinstein Company executive alleging that he often used his position of power to sexually harass and proposition actresses who worked with him. "Mr. Weinstein has further confirmed that there were never any acts of retaliation against any women for refusing his advances".

A spokesperson for Weinstein has since released a statement denying the claims made against him.

Weinstein was terminated on Sunday, days after the first New York Times article came out citing years of alleged abuse and eight confidential settlements from the producer to accusers.

"Over the last week, there has been a lot of pain for my family that I take responsibility for".

He took an opportunity to swing at Weinstein during the most important and well-publicised night in Hollywood, in front of thousands in the crowd and millions at home.
