This particular eclipse will first hit the Pacific Ocean, then move into OR, cross the U.S.to SC and end in the Atlantic Ocean.

Over the next hour and a half, it will cross through Oregon, Idaho, Wyoming, Montana, Nebraska, Iowa, Kansas, Missouri, Illinois, Kentucky, Tennessee, Georgia, and North and SC.

For astronomers, it's an opportunity to look at the area near the sun that is not normally visible because of the bright light of the sun.

The total eclipse will last between 3 min. 30 sec. and 4 min. 30 sec. - one to two minutes longer than this August's longest period.
