'Game of Thrones' Season 7 Episode 5 recap: 'Eastwatch'

14 August 2017

What was your favorite moment from the latest Game Of Thrones episode?

Jon meets up with Tormund and the Wildlings, who have also captured the Hound and his crew.

Read on for details and theories. Underneath, you'll find an inside look at the fifth episode.

When Dany flew in with a very fierce Drogon, the encounter that Drogon had with Jon Snow has left fans talking.

Daenerys returns home with her dragon.

Ultimately, get ready to see one of the most epic episodes of the entire series.

In the picture above you can see the most-awaited scene of Drogon's first encounter with Jon Snow. On this evening's episode as per the HBO synopsis, "Daenerys demands loyalty from the surviving Lannister soldiers; Jon heeds Bran's warning about White Walkers on the move; Cersei vows to vanquish anyone or anything that stands in her way". But it's unclear if that's the case in the show. But they weren't free for long: In Season 3, Arya and Gendry (along with Hot Pie) were taken captive again, this time by the Brotherhood Without Banners, led by Beric Dondarrion.

As he left, they proved their knowledge of the Tarly House's demise at the hands (or fire breath) of Drogon, but hadn't found time to tell Sam. That makes Jon Snow a legitimate heir to the Targaryen dynasty, not a bastard as he's always believed. Jon goes on another one of his goody-two-shoes monologues about trust and honoring his people, so she agrees to trust him.

While Daenerys tried to observe (but couldn't see because Drogon is a big boy), Jon approached and petted the dragon. Remember that scene from last season?

The new season will have seven episodes, and it is expected that the final season will only have six instalments. Was he the victim of his own hubris as he tried to charge Daenerys (and, er, her MASSIVE dragon) only to be tackled from his horse into a nearby river and drown in his heavy armour? When Tyrion entered the dungeon where the two dragons were held, one of the dragons threatened him by beginning to blow out a flame, but then stopped. Tyrion could help him escape, which means that a reunion may be happening. He let Tyrion touch him and remove his chains.

In the ever-perceptive words of Ser Davos Seaworth to none other than Gendry, the long-lost Baratheon, "Bad things are coming".

Some fans think that for Tyrion to have such a strong connection to the dragons, he might have "dragon's blood" running through him.

After The Mad King was killed, both of these children were murdered by The Mountain under the orders of Tywin Lannister. If Tyrion is part Targaryen, this would also explain why Tywin hated Tyrion so much, saying "you are no son of mine" and complaining that he couldn't prove Tyrion wasn't his.
