Arsenal boss claims PSG are not targeting Alexis Sanchez

11 August 2017

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger said yesterday he has had no contact with Paris Saint-Germain regarding Alexis Sanchez, who will miss the start of the season through injury.

However, we saw evidence at Wembley that even without some of their most important players, Wenger has a deep pool of talent to pull from as they prepare for their Premier League opener against Leicester on Friday night. I think, if you read the French papers, Kylian Mbappé is how they will look to finish their transfer market.

Wenger finally signed a new two-year extension at the end of the season following speculation that he could depart north London after 21 years as Arsenal boss.

"He had a scan two days ago and he's out for a while", Wenger told reporters.

Meanwhile, Arsenal legend Martin Keown has urged Alexis Sanchez to see out the final year of his contract with the Gunners with "dignity and respect". One or two weeks.

"Manchester City are prepared to play the waiting game in an attempt to land top target Alexis Sanchez", Hetherington writes.

Wenger said: "I personally am convinced that will happen soon", with reference to Corinne Diacre, who manages second-tier French team Clermont Foot.

Arsenal come into the game in high spirits following a victory over their rivals Chelsea for the Community Shield. I want him to play somewhere.

Despite a largely positive summer, Arsenal will begin their campaign in the midst of a traditional injury crisis with eight first team players unavailable and Laurent Koscielny suspended.

"Some you know about and that's very hard for a group of players to cope with that - and some other reasons we will talk about on another day".

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain should get much more game time this season and we think Arsene Wenger will look to deploy the former Southampton man at left wing-back.

Arsenal have won just one of their last seven opening day fixtures and required an injury-time victor from Aaron Ramsey to do so against Crystal Palace back in August 2014.
