Anambra election: Incumbency won't stop PDP - Oduah

Makarfi speaking while inaugurating a 37-member Caretaker Committee for the Anambra chapter of the party in Abuja said the party's leadership was already witnessing some form of indiscipline from some member.

Delta State Governor Ifeanyi Okowa is chairman of National Convention Committee with former Jigawa State Governor Sule Lamido as deputy chairman.

"We believe in the cardinals of PDP, the constitution of PDP that says that every man is equal and every man has equal opportunity and most importantly that whatever your aspiration may be, you do not require a godfather or godmother to accomplish that".

"You can even reconcile with those who have never been in the PDP and bring them back to the party".

According to her, the PDP will provide a visionary candidate who has clear and well thought out programme for the state.

"All Progressives Congress (APC) is now dying and is nearly dead". I am aware that they were able to win in 2015 because of members of PDP who defected there.

Mr. Adeyeye recalled that the party had on July 27 dissolved all the parallel PDP executives in Anambra. "We will no longer allow the party to be abused".

"The committee is comprised of eminent Nigerians and party chieftains with vast experience".

Okowa said that though the period for preparing for the event was short, the committee would face the challenge and deliver a successful convention.

The governor spoke yesterday at PDP secretariat in Abuja during the inaugural meeting of the committee, adding that the convention would be an acid test of the party's readiness for the election.

Former National Women Leader of the party, Josephine Anenih, is the Secretary of the committee.

On Tuesday, party faithful loyal to Senator Buruji Kashamu met in Lagos to declare support for the Ahmed Markafi-led Caretaker committee and denounced Eddy Olafeso, as the national vice chairman of the zone.They called on senator Makarfi to stop relating with Gov Fayose on issues that have to do with the south west zone of the PDP.

"You are to see that interests are protected and balanced".

Part of the terms of reference given to the caretaker committee is to organise a credible and effective party primary for the forthcoming state governorship election.
