THE PUNISHER Returns In New DEFENDERS Trailer

21 July 2017

"Heroes show us we don't need to be ideal to do what's right", Lee says at one point.

There isn't a whole lot of new footage in there - it's really just a promo for Netflix Korea - but even as a detractor of this mostly boring universe, I have to admit there's something special about Stan Lee explaining these characters like he's speaking to a child. Actor Jon Bernthal appears, wielding a gun, face dirty and sporting the iconic Punisher symbol on his chest.

I'm not quite sure these Netflix shows qualify as "the greatest stories ever told", but I suppose we can grant them some room for exaggeration here and there.

Marvel have kept things relatively quiet in regards to Frank Castle's Netflix Series, but it's hard to think the silence will continue for long.

The network released a new video highlighting its small-screen Marvel universe, which was published on the official Luke Cage Twitter account, that puts a spotlight on Jessica Jones, Iron Fist, Daredevil and Cage. That's something that Netflix's Marvel shows have always leaned into, as far as portraying the gritty, street-level reality of not only living in a world of super-powered people and super-villains to match, but of some pretty messed-up and conflicted folks with problems of their ones - where their powers often cause more trouble than they help with, at least for now. Bernthal played Punisher previously in the second season of Daredevil.

With San Diego Comic-Con this weekend, expect to see a new, full length trailer for the show.

Marvel's Defenders is one of the most anticipated debuts in 2017, and the quartet of heroes will also be making its way to Kotobukiya's ArtFX line of statues. Following the season's release previous year, Netflix confirmed it was working on a stand-alone Daredevil series, which would be released in 2017.
