Israeli forces kill Palestinian in West Bank raid

Israeli authorities said the gunmen had come from the flashpoint holy site to carry out the attack.

Palestinian security forces and family identified the suspect as 34-year-old Amar Tirawi from Kafr Ein, a town near Nabi Salah in the central West Bank. "We reject the changes imposed by the Israeli government", Sheikh Omar Kiswani, Al-Aqsa director, told reporters outside. Earlier on Friday, Israeli police officers and soldiers shot and killed, three young Palestinian men, who opened fire on officers near the "Tribes Gate", leading to the Al-Aqsa Mosque, in occupied East Jerusalem, and fled towards the courtyards of Al-Aqsa Mosque, where they exchanged fire with soldiers, wounding three, before they were killed.

A Palestinian gunman who was killed in a firefight with Israeli forces on Sunday had gone on a shooting spree with his fiancée following an argument with their families over their engagement, according to the Shin Bet security service.

The sources furthermore claimed that the man was responsible for two shootings in Ramallah area on Saturday, first near the Atarot settlement and then on the other military barracks in the area of Nabi Saleh. According to the military, during an arrest raid in the Deheishe refugee camp, outside Bethlehem, Palestinians began throwing large rocks and explosive devices at the troops.

Palestinian attacks on Israeli civilians and security personnel have increased since 2015, although once-daily attacks had slowed lately.
