Though previous reports had seemed to suggest that Google planned to continue to work with HTC on Pixel devices for at least another year, the choice to jump ship to LG (at-least in part) suggests that features like an OLED display might come to the Pixel range sooner rather than later. Possibly called Google Pixel XL 2017, or maybe Pixel 2 XL, the Taimen is - according to Android Police, a 6-inch smartphone that's manufactured by LG and resembles the device seen in the render below.
Android Police's render lines up with some of the Pixel 2's rumors, including the rumor that the glass panel on the phone's back will be smaller. The source didn't elaborate on the claim but implied that the Alphabet-owned company may once again opt for some lighthearted names, much like it did last fall with the original Pixel and Pixel XL. The report warned that the final design might change, however. The top and bottom bezels have been shrunken dramatically compared to the 2016 Pixel XL and the side bezels look pretty slim, too. Interestingly, Android Police notes that this new 6-inch Pixel could feature a touch-sensitive, squeezable frame - akin to HTC's Edge Sense that debuted on the HTC U11 a few months back.More news: GSA Calls Off Search for New FBI Headquarters
We'll have to wait until Google announces its new Pixel phones before we know for sure that they'll look like, but this alleged 2017 Pixel XL design looks pretty solid.
Around the front is the biggest departure style-wise from past year, with a rumoured new 6-inch 2K 2:1 AMOLED display with rounded edges a la the LG G6, which isn't a surprise as this panel is rumoured to be made by LG Display.More news: "American Idol" Singer Haley Reinhart Arrested For Punching Bouncer
Rumours of the 2017 Google Pixel devices have been swirling around for a little while now, with punts on everything from the specs, component vendors and this year's manufacturing partners doing the rounds.
Like recent Android flagship devices, the Pixel 2 XL will also supposedly sport refined and narrowed borders around its display, as well as rounded corners on the display itself.More news: Wayne Rooney 'looking forward' to his second Everton debut - in Tanzania!
