Markelle Fultz set to visit 76ers amid trade talks with Celtics

18 June 2017

Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo's The Vertical reported that the framework within the deal was Philadelphia sending this year's third pick, an unprotected 2018 pick (which belongs to the Los Angeles Lakers), and a potential 2021 selection. However, Fultz may be the No. 1 overall pick in this draft. Team president of basketball operations Bryan Colangelo, head coach Brett Brown, vice president of player personnel Marc Eversley and Williams attended the session, but returned to Philadelphia on Friday evening. In return the Celtics would get the 76ers number three overall pick ths season and two future first round picks.

Talks are reportedly far enough along that Fultz could meet with the 76ers in Philadelphia on Saturday.

Following a report that the Celtics were considering Kansas forward Josh Jackson at No. 1, a much bigger bombshell emerged Friday afternoon.

Butler averaged 23.9 points, 6.2 rebounds and 5.5 assists per game last season. Fultz also can pull up and shoot the 3-pointer.

If the Lakers do indeed keep their selection, they might decide to take another point guard, instead of Ball.

Fultz went through an hour-long private workout for the Lakers on Thursday before meeting with the team's top brass at their training complex.

When the Los Angeles Lakers were awarded the No.2 overall pick in the 2017 NBA Draft Lottery, many felt it was a fait accompli that the team would select UCLA's Lonzo Ball.

The Sixers have been trying to arrange a session with Ball, an unselfish player who shot 41.2 percent from 3-point land with the Bruins last season, for weeks.

"I'm truly blessed to be in this position", Fultz said.

And while Fultz is seen nearly unanimously as the most talented players in the draft, he would need to find a place alongside Isaiah Thomas in Boston and the Celtics may already have another player in mind.

Or, the Celtics could get really ambitious and go to the Pelicans at the deadline and say: You guys are not making the playoffs, you're going nowhere fast, and if you want to rebuild, here are four 1st round picks. "There's always just a lot of talk, a lot of smoke". "Every team has a different kind of setup that they like". Jackson and Ingram can be interchangeable parts just like the Warriors do with KD [Kevin Durant], Draymond [Green], [Andre] Iguodola and all their other players.
