Here is what BCCI had to say: "The Indian Express Newspaper of 11th June (today), carries a news item stating that there was a claim by the members of the Cricket Advisory Committee (CAC), for being compensated for their meetings held to select a head coach for the Indian Cricket Team". As for the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) officials, they too largely are against setting a precedent where the Indian captain virtually decides on who will be the coach of the side.
According to reports, The CAC'S decision is nearly final it will only be confirmed at the June 26 meeting after BCCI President CK Khanna requested acting secretary Amitabh Choudhary to defer the process.More news: Draymond being Draymond: Warriors' Green embraces role of NBA Finals heel
BCCI's acting president CK Khanna, who wrote a letter to all stakeholders arguing that the matter be postponed till the BCCI SGM on June 26, told TOI: "How could the coach be replaced in the middle of the Champions Trophy and with the tour to West Indies coming up?"
Earlier, BCCI released a statement saying that the next coach, or wherever in appointed by CAC, will be given a contract till ICC Cricket World Cup 2019. In case Kumble doesn't go, assistant coach Sanjay Bangar can take the team. Former India Team Director Ravi Shastri though has not applied for the post and the CAC might be forced to ignore Kohli's plea.More news: Moscow shooting: 4 dead as shooter opens fire at passers-by
Anil Kumble's term as head coach ends with the Champions Trophy, and the Board had last month invited applications from interested candidates.
"The CAC has bought some time for Kumble". That said, with news of an apparent rift in the team hogging the headlines, the task of the CAC has become that much harder. "It's a short tour so there shouldn't be any problems", a top source said. "After all it will be the first time he is set to appear for the interview", a BCCI official said. From feuds between the captain and the coach to Kumble unwilling to continue as coach, we saw it all. The CAC is aware that influential members in the BCCI have thrown their weight behind the players, but they are unlikely to bow to external elements. The committee understands the "onus" is on them to make the right choice, especially as Kumble was their choice in the first place. It is said that Virender Sehwag has the least chance of getting selected.More news: EA releases first details about NBA Live 18
