19 May 2017

The tornadoes, some of them still unverified a day later, touched down in five states: Wisconsin and Oklahoma, which each had one death and about 40 homes destroyed, and Texas, Kansas and Nebraska.

The Twin Cities station of the National Weather Service tweeted a photo of large hailstones that fell in the town of Barron, with the largest 3 inches in diameter. "I was one of those people who thought, 'Ah, it won't happen to me.' But never again".

Fallin toured Elk City on Wednesday afternoon as families sorted through the remains of their homes.

Forecasters are predicting a tornado outbreak in parts of the Southern Plains on Thursday, the latest in a stormy week that has raked the country's midsection and left two people dead. "Please monitor the Barron County Sheriff's Department Facebook page for further updates". Emergency crews were dispatched to the scene, and to a golf course where a gas leak was reported.

Possible tornadoes were spotted over Weyerhaeuser, Wisconsin, near McLean, Texas, and in Bucklin, Kansas, Tuesday.

Seever said that Gavin worked at the turkey farm across the road from his mobile home that was also slammed by the storm.

Sirens went off Monday in the Chetek area about 25 minutes before the powerful storm hit about 5:33 p.m.

Sheriff's dispatchers say they're too busy to provide details.

"A few trailers on the perimeter are still standing, but everything in the middle is completely gone", Chetek police Officer Cody Stauner told the Leader-Telegram. He estimated the park had almost 50 homes. Mikles' pickup was reportedly tossed several hundred feet by the tornado.
