Sean Hannity has message for Roger Ailes' enemies

19 May 2017

"Not sure I would have been President w/o his great talent, loyal help".

Fox News host Shepard Smith paid an extremely emotional tribute to the late Roger Ailes - former CEO and Chairman of Fox News - on Thursday afternoon during "Fox Report", calling Ailes a "patriot" and noting that he loved Ailes like a father.

But Richard Nixon really might not have been elected without Ailes' savvy, prescient counsel.

In recent years, he began an informal adviser to then-candidate Donald Trump, even sitting in on debate prep for the candidate during his 2016 campaign.

The network that the Murdochs owned but that he built has in the a year ago been buffeted by sexual harassment scandals - allegations that forced Ailes himself out last summer and later claimed the network's biggest star, Bill O'Reilly.

Ailes has often been embroiled in sexual harassment claims.

Yet Bartlett, a Fox critic, warned that Ailes' network has become a "state news service for the Trump administration".

In the sincerest form of flattery, his success at Fox spawned imitators and inspired MSNBC to offer only half of the story, too.

Ailes was suffering from numerous and serious health problems, which we're told contributed to his death. "Controversy aside those people still say they're thankful to Roger Ailes for their careers", Said Dr. Adam Earnheardt, Associate Professor and Chair of the Communications Department at Youngstown State University.

The Roger Ailes and Trump relationship was a mutually beneficial one.

After he resigned from Fox News, Ailes reportedly returned to politics.

"In the years I worked with Ailes he was a great mentor, deeply patriotic, committed to Fox News and really anxious about America".

"No one deserves more credit for the rightward movement of this country over the last 20 years or so than Roger Ailes", said Bruce Bartlett, a former aide to Presidents Ronald Reagan and George H.W. Bush who now considers himself an independent. The Palm Beach County Medical Examiner's Office determined Thursday afternoon that Ailes suffered bleeding of the brain caused by a fall at home.

Ailes, a former Republican political consultant, established Fox News, along with News Corp CEO Rupert Murdoch, in 1996. "He has dramatically and forever changed the political and the media landscape, single-handedly for the better".

"Roger was a great patriot who never ceased fighting for his beliefs", he added.

Twenty-First Century Fox had no immediate statement. In the past 10 months, top earner Bill O'Reilly has been fired, Co-President Bill Shine lasted only eight months and anchor Jesse Watters was accused of sexual harassment. "Our thoughts and prayers are with his wife Elizabeth and son Zachary".
