Brian Stelter, in a voiceover on CNN about Ailes' death, said Fox News made politics a "permanent campaign, lifting up Republican candidates and conservative policies".

Former President George H.W. Bush tweeted: "He wasn't ideal, but Roger Ailes was my friend & I loved him". After that, other female Fox employees alleged similar mistreatment by Ailes, including Meghan Kelly, another high-profile anchor.

"By fusing television's power to conjure feelings of anger and resentment to an ideology of cultural populism that demonised liberal elites, Ailes set forth the methods and the message that would help conservative politicians win and maintain power for decades".

Former President George H.W. Bush offered warm praise of late former Fox News chief Roger Ailes, who helped guide his successful 1988 presidential campaign.

Throughout Ailes' tenure, Fox News pushed a conservative agenda, particularly in primetime and early-morning programming.

Roger Ailes, President of Fox News Channel in April 2012 in New York City. "He was also a patriot, profoundly grateful to live in a country that gave him so much opportunity to work hard, to rise - and to give back".

After leaving Fox News previous year, Ailes worked on the Trump campaign as an advisor, helping the Republican candidate prepare for the debates.

"There is serious bleeding. he is not completely alert", the 911 report obtained by Palm Beach's WPTV shows.

In a statement announcing Ailes' departure last year, Rupert Murdoch, executive chairman of 21st Century Fox, the parent company of Fox News, praised Ailes for his "remarkable contribution" to the company and said he "shared my vision of a great and independent television organization and executed it brilliantly over 20 great years".

"He has dramatically and forever changed the political and the media landscape, single-handedly for the better", Fox News host Sean Hannity tweeted. In another tweet, Sherman said, "Per 2nd family friend on cause of death: Ailes fell in Palm Beach and had a blood clot from the fall". "I don't think there's ever been one source of media that has such a loyal political following as Fox News does".

Ailes went from a 27-year-old TV producer to successfully selling Richard Nixon to the American people in 1968.

"Roger was a great patriot who never ceased fighting for his beliefs", he added. That execution turned Fox News into Murdoch's most valuable asset, a cash cow valued at more than $15B.

In death, Roger Ailes has become a talking point for the kind of polarization and loathing he spent his career fomenting, a fitting legacy for one of the culture wars' biggest instigators.

"Beth, you are in our thoughts and prayers", co-host Ainsley Earhardt said, "and so is Zachary, their attractive son".
