Paisley Park, the suburban Minneapolis recording complex where Prince lived, will be the epicenter of events celebrating his life and music.
Prince's most famous band, the Revolution, used their performance Friday at the second day of Paisley Park's Celebration 2017 to kick off a North American tour that runs through July. The compound opened as a museum last October. A cool scene would be to see the 35W bridge across the Mississippi River in downtown Minneapolis lit in purple in honor of Prince.
Malinda Listenbee, 46, of Huntsville, Alabama, wore a Prince shirt as she and her husband Ulton waited to enter Paisley Park. He says Prince fans were somewhat complicit in his addiction, which was likely a result of the chronic pain he suffered after years of performing.
Mary Adams and her 10-year-old daughter, Rachel, visited First Avenue on Friday to pose for a picture in front of Prince's star, repainted from silver to gold soon after his death. "I always knew Prince was popular, but I had no idea the global reach", he said.
Both are among the thousands of Prince fans are donning purple and making the pilgrimage to Paisley Park and other Prince landmarks in the Twin Cities.
He said: "When he was running the show, I do think he wanted to have control over how it was put out".

Just last week, unsealed documents were released and revealed that none of the medications found in Prince's home held a legal prescription.

"It's just still so hard accepting that he's no longer here", she added.
Light also feels that being able to watch footage of Prince is what's most needed right now to cement his legacy.
