NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080 Ti now available for pre-order

04 March 2017

Nvidia unveiled its new GeForce GTX 1080 Ti chipset in the Editors Day event in San Francisco. The new graphics card is now officially available for pre-order. Nvidia will have its Founder's Edition cards, of course, but the more interesting cards are always the third-party models. However, it will be relatively 35 percent than the GTX 1080 and even edging the Titan X. Both use the company's (sorta) new iCX cooler technology, which features a redesigned cooler shroud and PCB with nine different temperature sensors: three for memory, five for PWM, and one for the GPU.

In terms of its pricing and availability, the new GeForce GTX 1080 Ti graphics cards, including the Nvidia Founders Edition, will be shipped worldwide across 238 countries and territories by Nvidia partners including Asus EVGA, Gainward, Galaxy, Gigabyte, iGame, Innovision 3D, MSI, Palit, PNY and Zotac, starting March 10. The usual suspects will be different-the 1080 Ti boasts a Pascal GP102 GPU with 3,584 Cuda cores that boost up to 1,600Mhz and 11GB of 11 Gbps GDDR5X memory, which promises to make it faster than the 1080-but the overall goal of making people forget about ACX 3.0's problems is likely the same.

While it did not provide any specific details about the new EVGA GTX 1080 Ti FTW3 graphics card, judging by the fact it comes with the new iCX triple-fan cooler, we can expect a hefty factory-overclock. It will draw power from a pair of 8-pin PCI-Express power connectors. GeForce GTX 1080 now retails for $499, which has been upgraded to the fastest 11Gbps memory, also used by the GTX 1080 Ti flagship. In addition, the GeForce GTX 1060 received a similar update as that of the GTX 1080; it now has 9Gbps memory chips while retaining its original price point.
