Anastasios Leventis of Quebec man killed in Toronto shooting

Toronto police initially reported one person was shot at Adelaide and George Sts. before 3 p.m.

Anastasios Leventis, of Quebec, was pronounced dead at the corner of Adelaide and George streets after paramedics arrived at the scene.

Sgt. Craig Somers told a news conference at the scene that two semi-automatic handguns were recovered and it's not known if the dead person was the intended victim.

The area "is relatively busy", said Ev Delen, a nearby resident who said he heard "three bursts of shots", estimating that 10 to 15 shots had been fired. However they said a nearby vehicle was struck by a blue vehicle that fled the scene.

George Brown College's St. James campus was placed under hold and secure for about an hour while police investigated. Students were being advised to stay on campus or to avoid the area if they were not already on campus. He was not immediately able to say if the victim was male or female, or give any other identifying information.

Police said there is no informationat this point linking the shooting to the school.
